I attended a settlement meeting on a law suit against the TVA initiated by several States including North Carolina for pollution from their coal fired generation plants in Tennessee. The results of the suit are that all of the states impacted by this pollution will receive amounts from a fund set up for the purpose: Tennessee will receive $26.4 Million, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Alabama will each receive $11.2 million. Payments will be made to each over five years in equal payments. TVA will also expend between $3-5billion to clean up its coal-fired plants in three states.
