The Town of Franklin has a population of approximately 3,800 residents and is the county seat for Macon County. It is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern North Carolina. With its temperate climate and beautiful surroundings Franklin is and always has been a poular tourist destination. It is home to many seasonal residents which roughly doubles its population during peak seasons.
The Franklin Police Department was established in 1855 and is a full service municipal agency comprised of 19 full time employees, of these, 18 are sworn law enforcement officers. The Department takes pride in providing professional law enforcement and community oriented police services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to our customers, the residents and visitors of Franklin.
In our Departments effort to provide the highest level of services to the residents and visitors of Franklin, we place high emphasis on equipping our officers with the latest technology and training.
The goal of the Franklin Police Department is to reduce crime to make for a safe town.
