MAIN STREET TRANSFORMATION
The Town of Franklin has partnered with McAdams and Toole Design to create a transformational plan for Main Street.  The Town Council needs your help to craft this vision for the future.  This plan is meant to be more than beautification and traffic modification; it is meant to transform Main Street into a more vibrant and inviting space for Franklin residents and businesses.  A two-day community workshop was held on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29 and citizens, businesses and visitors weighed in on this important plan.   There were greater than 140 who attended and provided comments and ideas for what they would like to see the Main Street area look like in the future.

This transformation plan will be phased with short-, medium- and long-term improvements.  One of the driving factors with this plan is the repaving of Main Street by the NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT); tentatively set for bidding in January 2027.  The Town and the consultants have a good relationship with the NCDOT and are working to ensure that any potential changes are discussed and evaluated prior to any implementation.    There will be additional public input opportunities, and a survey will also be available in late-June to allow those who could not attend the community workshop to provide their comments.

Information will be updated on this page and on social media platforms to ensure that the public is continually engaged and involved in this process.    If you have any questions related to the Main Street Transformation Project - please contact Amie Owens, Town Manager at 828-524-2516 or via email aowens@franklinnc.com.
