Council Member Mike Lewis
Councilman Mike Lewis was elected to Franklin’s Town Council on Nov. 5, 2019, allowing him to realize a longtime dream of public service to the people in his community.
A lifelong Maconian, Lewis graduated from Franklin High School in 1988. After working for several years in Franklin’s private sector, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Western Carolina University’s Honors College in 2003. Shortly after graduation from WCU, he went to work for The Franklin Press as a reporter and later on as its news editor. In 2015, after 12 years at The Press, Lewis went to work for The Macon County Sheriff’s Office as a civilian employee. He is married to Jennifer Moffitt Lewis. Together they have four children (including a daughter-in-law): Zachary and Bailey Gentry Tallent, Coleman Tallent, and Finley Lewis.
